Coverband ‘Coverage’ of Rene Vleesenbeek
A musical anniversary
Within J&J Innovative Medicine, most probably know him as Supervisor at BU1 COE Services LM, but some of you also know him as a passionate musician who has performed at several SEC summer festivals: Rene Vleesenbeek. With his band 'Coverage' he has already played on many stages, Kings (Queens) days and festivals. With covers from U2 to Fleetwood Mac and from Hazes to Queen, this band has something for everyone.

A festive brunch with MSAT Leiden
For several years now, we have been organizing a brunch at the beginning of the year with the entire MSAT (Manufacturing, Science and Technology) Leiden department and our locally based global MSAT colleagues. The primary goal of this brunch is to come together and celebrate the highlights of the past year. The brunch has a potluck character, where we bring as many homemade dishes as possible and buy as little ready-made food as we can. With colleagues from almost all continents on our team, this diversity is also reflected in the food. It has become clear that MSAT also possesses excellent culinary skills.

Christmas donation to charity
We would like to share some lovely feedback on how your Christmas parcel donation to charity was used for 2024. We had the opportunity to assist two daycare centers that provide care for
individuals with mild or intellectual disabilities, ranging in age from 18 to 91 years. Firstly, from us, thank you for your kind contribution; you have brought happiness to many people!

Talents for the future
Although the conditions are extreme, good preparation has allowed me to limit injuries to blisters. Because of the sand and heat, your feet take a beating so I have to treat blisters daily. Finishers from previous editions advised me on hydration, nutrition, foot care and protective clothing, and it worked out well for me.
Through medical examinations before and after the training year, I know I am physically ready for the race and that gives me confidence. It's fascinating how well the human body adapts to conditions.

Originally from The Hague, the band was founded in 2005 and has become more and more a band of Vlaardingen over the years, with the current permanent formation Rene (guitar/vocals), Anja (vocals/percussion), Dennis (bassist) and Ralph (drums). Saturday, March 29, was the celebration of a historic moment, as this band has existed for no less than 20 years! In Partycentrum Prikkewater in Vlaardingen it was time for an anniversary performance with for the occasion several guest musicians who have been part of the band in the past decades. With no less than three one-hour sets, the band managed to entertain the full house until the early hours.

Over the years, we have tried to make this activity more interactive, for example, by incorporating a quiz. This year, we surprised everyone with a two-part competition: the best tasting dish and the best-looking dish. The photos speak for themselves! Additionally, the CI (Continuous Improvement) of the Year election has become a regular part of the program and has been held for the second time this year. We take the time to reflect on the CIs from the past year and then vote for the CI of the Year. Overall, it was another successful event full of togetherness and fun!

‘t Paleis: a custom-made tablet with 22x magnification
't Paleis is a daycare location in Haarlem where people with a mild intellectual disability (LVB) or an intellectual disability (VB) work. Together we look at the work and guidance that best suits the participant. We want to teach what makes them happy, such as working in the garden, preparing lunches, making music, engaging in creative activities, and reading. We have various participants with poor vision. Thanks to your help, we were able to acquire this tablet that magnifies 22 times. This means that these participants can now read independently and view pictures. We are very happy with this tablet, it is used daily, and it is an asset to our location. On behalf of all the participants: thank you very, very much for this wonderful gift.”

Villa Anders: a transfer press & printer (design labels for candles or make beautiful prints on pillowcases and bags)
Dear donors,
Thank you so much for the transfer press and supplies that you have gifted us. We are very happy with this! With your contribution, we can expand our activity program, and our participants can develop new skills. We will first start by designing a mug to get acquainted with the new printer and press. We are convinced that soon there will be over thirty participants proudly going home with their own mug. And that many more printed mugs will be made afterwards! The staff and participants are looking forward to exploring what beautiful things we can create with these wonderful devices in the time to come. Once again, thank you very much!
Warm regards,
Participants and staff of Villa Anders

Close collaboration within the labs
“We are excited to announce the launch of our new Equipment Status Dashboard. This tool provides a quick, easy, and up-to-date overview of equipment status and information.” The JJIM. was triggered by this post on Viva Engage and asked Teun de Gelder to talk more about it. He is happy to do so:
The Digital and Technologies Team collects questions that come up within the labs, such as:
- Where can I easily see the status of instruments?
- What is the trend of our stability studies and are new measurement points within expectation?
- How can we see how our measurement methods are performing?
Close collaboration
We translate these kinds of questions into a business case and then we work on solutions to make processes or questions that concern our colleagues as easy as possible. Recently, we worked with ELM to develop a dashboard that allows you to see at a glance the data from SAP and ETS of an ENS number. In addition, Release and Stability worked closely with us to create a trending tool that automatically calculates the trends of stability studies and makes outliers faster and easier to detect.
Interactive method
From the project team focusing on reducing incorrect lab analysis results, we are working with lab teams to implement an interactive method that makes incorrect lab results easy to report.
Incredibly proud
We are incredibly proud of all these collaborations; they deliver the most practical and workable solutions.
